Many connections can degrade over time (often caused by thermal expansion/contraction) and a quick unplug/plug fixes this. A side benefit with removing it to use a card reader is that each time you insert the card back into your camera you are getting a fresh electrical connection. I'd also love to shoot tethered in the studio if at all possible.Īlthough I do agree with being careful while inserting CF cards, they are designed to withstand many removal/insertion cycles (a quick search indicates 10000+). Feel it should stay in place with its delicate connection pins undisturbed. I dislike the idea of yanking the CF card in and out every day. Think I'll wait a while to see if anyone has found a work-around. Yes, when i take some shots with my 5D, i use the card reader and do a slide-and-drop the files on my desktop and take it from there, no need for connecting my camera to my desktop or my laptop! i have been doing this since 2006 when i purchased my 5D
